Welcome

The Honey Harbour Community Co-op was founded in 1998 when municipal amalgamations were altering communities throughout Ontario. Not wanting Honey Harbour to be lost in the shuffle, the founding members created an organization that could promote strong social and economic health in the community. From the outset, four mandates were established:

  1. To provide structure to the social & economic needs of the community
  2. To foster and promote community activities & program
  3. To lobby appropriate agencies & organizations to provide needed resources for the community
  4. To sustain, strengthen and help to improve the community through communication, co-operation and combined efforts.

In the Interest of Honey Harbour

The Co-op makes annual donations from funds raised in the community to embellish the programs of the Honey Harbour Public School, Our Lady of Mercy School, the Honey Harbour Public Library and to support the Port Severn Honey Harbour Santa Claus Parade & Party and the March Break program at the Baxter Ward Community Centre.

Mandate #3 states that the Co-op will  lobby appropriate agencies & organizations, whenever necessary, to provide needed resources for the community. In the spring of 2007, a delegation from the Co-op presented the council of the Township of Georgian Bay with a list of items in need of attention, repair and replacement at the Park Landing in Honey Harbour. After several years of neglect docks were sinking, paint was peeling, lighting in public areas had burnt-out, and weeds were growing unchecked. The Park Landing was in need of some tender loving care. The Township subsequently responded, installing new docks where necessary, painting, repairing and attending to the items outlined on the Co-op’s list.

The Co-op invites you to participate in the organization and presentation of its activities that are of such benefit to the community of Honey Harbour, Port Severn and the Township of Georgian Bay.
